Part 8: Having a back up plan

Okay, so you went through a few interviews and for some reason or another, you still haven’t secured a job. The days on your visa a counting down. As sad as it might seem, you might start thinking of a backup plan.

  1. If you do end up going home, you can still apply for jobs in the US! It’s just that your interviews will be via skype, and if you did apply for OPT, all you need is the job.
  2. Think about jobs/programs in OTHER countries. Remember that the US is not the only country out there. There are tons of other opportunities out there in other countries. Perhaps the universe is saying go somewhere else! Take advantage of that.
  3. Think of doing a educational/teaching program overseas, such as the JET, or the CET.
  4. Apply for jobs in your home country
